Using acrylic enamels I create deeply textured patterns reflecting my interpretation of African and other designs that influence me. I am especially drawn to traditional African textiles. The majority of my work has consisted of bottles, which I enjoy painting. With bottles the challenge is in deciding how I can complement their existing individuality and transform them into works of art. Currently I am working on more 2 dimensional pieces and objects other than bottles. In any case, when I paint I’m in a calm and desirable state of mind, absorbed in the detail. I use acrylic enamel gloss and most importantly a sharpened wooden stick to execute the patterns and designs in my work. This “tool” enables me to build up the texture I desire. You can see and feel the texture of my work, that is my intention.
